One Way Club

One Way is a children’s Christian-based after-school activity club in a safe and stimulating environment for primary school aged children.  The club runs from 4.00 – 5.30pm on Tuesday evenings during term time only and is run by some of the staff from Little Lambs Pre-School Centre with a number of helpers from Bethel.

The charge for the club is £2, which covers a variety of hot and cold food, a drink and all the evenings’ activities.  On the menu are such treats as chips, pizza, toast, crumpets, crisps and ice cream.  Some of the fees pay towards art and craft supplies and new equipment.

On arrival at the club, the children enjoy a short discussion time with Pastor Jill and other staff.  Here, they are encouraged to share any exciting news, birthday or any worries or concerns that they have.  They also have the opportunity to fill in a request form for friends and family who need someone to pray for them.  The children then have a free choice to take part in the many activities on offer.  These include: pool, table-football, air-hockey, computers, dance mats, various crafts, painting, sand, water, play-dough, hair-braiding, construction, imaginative play areas and a great selection of outdoor equipment and games.  Also, some weeks, the children have the chance to take part in cooking, colouring competitions, skittles and making gifts for special occasions.

On 31st October we held a Night-Light party where we enjoyed a sing-a-long, party games and party food.  The staff and children came dressed in their pyjamas and brought torches and the theme of Light and Good rather than Darkness and Evil was much enjoyed by all.

At the end of last year we said goodbye to some of our children who have now moved on to the Waterhole Youth Club.  Numbers at present are approx 40 members, having had new children start again at the beginning of the year.  The team of staff are very dedicated and are committed to working with the children.  We feel that this outreach is much needed in the community and we hope that through the kindness, love and understanding we have for the children, we will show them the love of Jesus.
